The Pitt County Girls Softball League is accepting registration for its Fall Ball season at The Zone at the Sara Law Complex in Winterville.
The league is open to all girls ages 4 to 18. The cost is $55 for county residents and $100 for out of county. All games are on Sunday afternoon, beginning in September.

Greenville baseball
The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is now taking registration for its summer baseball camps. Various camps will be offered for ages 6-15 starting in June and ending in August.
All camps will be directed by Ronald Vincent, baseball coach at J.H. Rose High School. Camp fees will be $35 for Greenville residents and $70 for non-residents.

Adult league
The Greenville Athletics are looking for players ages 18 and older and coaches to form a team to play in the Crystal Coast Baseball League.
The semi-pro squad is hoping to bring in around 28 players and five assistant coaches to take on teams from Carteret, Craven, Onslow and other area counties. Play should begin in mid-July.

Aluminum bat series
The CABA 18-and-under aluminum bat world series will be held July 27-Aug. 3 at the Cene Park baseball complex in Struthers, Ohio. Teams can register for the world series at www.cababaseball.com or www.youngstownclassb.com.

Adult tryouts
The Greenville Athletics, a semi-pro adult baseball team, will be holding tryouts on Saturday, July 12 at 10 a.m. and Sunday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at J.H. Rose High School.
Final tryouts will be July 19 at 10 a.m. The league is for players 18 and over. Tryouts are for all positions.
Be prepared to fill out paper work. There is a $100 fee if you make the team. Also be aware that other monies may be required for uniforms and team gear.

Kornegay camp
Chuck Kornegay was a second-team Parade All-American and standout basketball player at Southern Wayne High School before going on to become a three year starter at Villanova University.
He has continued his career playing professionally in Australia, Russia, Turkey and Spain.
Kornegay now brings his wealth of experience to Greenville in his first basketball camp presented by One on One Basketball.
The camp runs from Aug. 18-22, and begins each morning at 9 while wrapping up at 3 p.m.

The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is accepting registration for its summer basketball camps.
The camp for boys ages 9-12 will be July 7-10 from 9-11:45 a.m. The camp for girls ages 9-12 will be July 14-17 from 9-11:45 a.m.
There will be a co-ed camp for ages 13-15 the week of July 7-10 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Ten Star camp
Applications are being evaluated for the Ten Star All-Star summer basketball camp, which will be held in the following locations: Blacksburg, Va.; Prescott, Ariz.; Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Babson Park Fla.; Gainesville, Ga.; Champaign, Ill.; Glassboro, N.J.; Lebanon, Tenn.; and Commerce, Texas. Boys and girls ages 10-to-19 years old are eligible to apply. Past participants include NBA superstars Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan and Vince Carter.

Classes are currently being held at the Bemjo Martial Arts Center for judo, jujitsu and grappling.

The All-American Martial Arts Academy is accepting students in its many Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs.

The Winterville Recreation Park Offices are holding registration for a nature camp later this summer.

RUNNING
Mountain High camp
Mountain High Running Camp gives high school cross country runners the chance to live and train with elite Kenyan distance runners. The camp, held July 14-19, is open to runners of all abilities and is the only summer running camp that provides a brand new pair of Reebok running shoes.
Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the camp offers beautiful trails, expert instruction and lots of fun.

Kids conditioning
Greenville's Aquatics and Fitness Center at 921 Staton Rd. will be offering strength and conditioning for kids ages 12 to 18 years old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is accepting registration for its summer runners camp.
The camp will run from July 21-July 24 and will be for ages 8-13. All ages will meet from 5:30-8 p.m.
All campers will receive instruction from Coleman Bailey, D.H. Conley's track coach.
Each session will consist of activities to increase agility, foot speed and endurance. Campers will be divided into groups based on interest and ability.

The 15th annual Eastern Carolina soccer camp will be held at Gold's Gym Aug. 5-7 from 9 a.m.-noon.
Registration is currently being accepted for this camp which will use various games to help kids understand different skills and tactics.

Youth Soccer camp
Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is accepting registration for its youth soccer camp, which runs from July 28-31 and will be for ages U6-U14.
Ages U6-8 will meet from 9-11:45 a.m. Ages U9-14 will meet from 5:30-8:15 p.m.
All campers will receive instruction from Shannon McLaughlin, D.H. Conley girls' soccer coach. Campers need to bring ball, shin guards, water bottle, snack and sunscreen.

GRPD registration
The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department and the Pitt Greenville Soccer Association will begin taking registration for the fall Future Stars league July 1-Aug. 18. Players must be born between Aug. 1, 1993 and July 31, 2005 in order to participate.
League play will begin Sept. 6 and run through the first part of November.
The player participation fee is $40, which will include a full uniform consisting of a soccer jersey, shorts, socks and NCYSA registration. Volunteer coaches are needed.

Soccer Camp
The Eastern Carolina Soccer Camp is currently accepting registration for its 15th annual Summer Soccer Camp. The camp will be held at Gold's Gym Aug. 5-7 from 9-12 in the mornings. Campers will receive instruction from various high school and/or college soccer players as well as Charlie Harvey, former Men's Head Coach at East Carolina University and current Men's Head Coach at JH Rose High School.
The camp will implement a variety of games to help children better understand different skills and tactics involved in soccer. Children will play in short sided games and will also be introduced to various agility and speed training exercises designed to increase leg speed for actual game play.
Campers should wear shin guards and sneakers. All other equipment will be provided. For those interested, camp brochures are located at Gold's Gym or call Charlie Harvey at (252) 347-5425 and leave your name and address.

Freedom Soccer Club
Registration for the fall season of the East Carolina Freedom Soccer Club is underway through mid-August.
The club's mini-soccer league program for under 4 to under 12 age groups is purely recreational — no scores or standings are kept.
Games are played on Saturdays, generally between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from Sept. 6 to Nov. 8.
Training and practice takes place before games. The cost is $45 for U4-9 and $50 U10-12. Volunteer coaches are welcome.
Registration forms for players and coaches are available on the club's Web site at www.easterncarolinafreedom.org. Forms are due by Aug. 16.

Ayden Recreation programs
The Ayden Summer Basketball League is for boys and girls 6-15 years old. The cost is $8 for Ayden residents and $16 for all others.
