Letter: Send junk mail back with interest

Monday, October 22, 2007

Let me start by saying that I can't take credit for this idea, but I certainly support its principle. In a typical day of mail, I receive two or three credit card and solicitations.

Instead of wasting the self addressed envelope inside each of these offers, why not stuff each self addressed envelope with trash and unwanted offers from other solicitors? This way, the U.S. Post Office benefits from each piece of mail it delivers, and in addition, the company that sent the junk solicitation has to pay to receive back trash. It's a win-win.

If enough folks would jump on this idea, especially the part about sending trash back to the originator, these perpetrators might think twice about the volume of offers they are sending out.
